Evidence-Based Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care

OUR SERVICES

Alzheimer’s/dementia care

Our Alzheimer’s and dementia care model is informed by evidence-based best practices that emphasize person-centered care, environmental consistency, and emotional validation. Extensive research has shown that individualized, relationship-based care reduces agitation, anxiety, and behavioral distress while improving overall well-being for individuals living with dementia

(e.g., Kitwood’s personhood model; Alzheimer’s & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association)

Caregivers are trained to support cognitive changes through structured routines, gentle cueing, and meaningful engagement tailored to remaining abilities rather than losses. Peer-reviewed studies highlight that familiar routines, purposeful activities, and compassionate communication can significantly improve emotional regulation and preserve identity in people with dementia. At Reverence Health, we also recognize the importance of spiritual and emotional reassurance, which literature suggests can provide comfort, reduce fear, and strengthen a sense of meaning for individuals navigating memory loss.
